PLEASE PRAY FOR THE HAITIAN PEOPLE AND THEIR LOVED ONES
As most of you know, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.  The massive earthquake and the multiple aftershocks have devastated the already impoverish country. The damage is indescribable and the needs of the people immeasurable.

In response to the Haiti tragedy, Westminster Presbyterian Church is collecting donations to be distributed to select organizations that are currently providing immediate relief. All donations will be distributed to these organizations:

The International Red Cross, the World Food Program, Doctors Without Borders and the Yéle Haiti Foundation. All of these organizations were active in Haiti before the earthquake and have well established networks within the country to address the basic needs of the Haitian people. Information about each of these organizations is included below. Please help Haiti and the Haitian people in this time of urgent need.  "To the people of Haiti, we say clearly and with conviction, you will not be forgotten. In this, your hour of greatest need, America stands with you. The world stands with you," President Barack Obama said.

Checks may be made payable to “Westminster Presbyterian Church” with a note “Haitian Disaster Relief Fund”
in the memo section. You may mail your donation to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Avenue, Munster, IN46321.

The WPC YOUTH GROUP is collecting items to make emergency kits to be sent to Haiti by Children of Abram.

Westminster began 2010 with prayer. Pastor Bruce's messages for worship celebrations,
January through mid February, will focus around prayer. Lord Teach Us to Pray . . .

You will notice that there are birds in the sanctuary, flying high above the heads of the worshipers. On their wings they carry prayers -- prayers of hope, prayers of thanksgiving, prayers for peace, prayers of healing. These birds were lovingly created by hands old and young. With every fold they prayed!

The next Sunday Night Supper will be held on Sunday, February 21 at 4:30 p.m. in South Hall. The theme is "LOVE". Free tickets are available during Fellowship Hour or from the church office. Volunteers are needed -- pie makers, hosts and servers.

The Green Group will meet on Tuesday, January 26, at 7 p.m. in Room 209. Speaker Karen Lansdowne will discuss "green household cleaning products and what makes produce green." All are invited to attend.
