Grilling Group
The Westminster Grilling Group gathers on the second Monday of each month, March through November. Here’s what you can expect:
Location: We meet at the storage building at the south end of the parking lot, where we keep our grills, lawn chairs, a cabinet with plates and tableware, and a small refrigerator stocked with soda pop and condiments.
Community Service: Before enjoying our dinner, we prepare meals for a local homeless shelter. Anyone interested in helping is warmly welcome to join.
Dinner: One of our grillers volunteers to bring and cook the main course, which is usually hamburgers, hot dogs, or chicken.
Seasonal Adjustments:
In January and February, we usually take a break because of the cold weather. However, if someone suggests it, we might meet indoors at the church or visit a local barbecue restaurant.
In December, we typically don’t meet due to busy holiday schedules.
If we go out to a barbecue restaurant, or during one of our summer meetings, we often invite spouses, partners, or significant others to join us for dinner.
Monthly Schedule:
Here’s our typical meeting plan:
3:30 PM – Prepare dinner for the shelter in the large kitchen in South Hall. Everyone is welcome to help.
5:15 PM – Deliver the meal to the shelter.
5:30 PM – Fire up the grills and cook our dinner.
6:00 PM – Sit down and enjoy dinner together!
